Wildflowers

I love wildflowers. While a vase of roses is lovely, I get even more excited about a bouquet of wildflowers. And give me a family in a field of wildflowers... that is this photographer's heaven on earth.

I Heart Faces is celebrating "May flowers" this week. While we are still experiencing the "April rain" around here, I hope this will brighten up the place a bit.

Hello! {Fort Campbell, KY Newborn Photographer}

Things have certainly been... uh... quiet here on the photography blog. During the cold winter months when photo shoots are few and far between, I always have a "to do" list of busy work to keep me occupied. That list remains mostly untouched. :) Surgery with a one month recovery period was not on my list. (Boo!) Something I did that was on my list was take an online class specifically for natural light portraiture! (Hooray!)

I do have a sweet newborn session to share. Newborn shoots can be done in your own home using the natural light of a big window or door. At baby's home diapers and bottles are handy, surroundings are familiar and comforting, and it's easy to incorporate personal items into the photograph. In this session I photographed baby girl with a quilt her mother used as a wee one.









This perfect little bundle was 8 days new when we had our session. :)

I want to thank all my clients from 2010 for your business! It always seems much more like pleasure than business with the wonderful families that I am able to meet and photograph. I thought I'd share my favorite image from each session that I did over the past year. In no particular order (other than I think they look nice this way,) these are the images that I saw and immediately fell in love with...

A Fun Surprise

I entered this photo along with a story about one of my family's Christmas traditions in a holiday photo contest at ClickinMoms. CM is my favorite photography forum because it is a wonderful meeting place of helpful, generous, and inspiring ladies that all love photography. The group ranges from beginners to pros, so I recommend it to any mama with an interest in photography. Anyway, I was happy to find out this morning that I earned an Honorable Mention in the contest. Home Run

This session was the last one of the fall season and it was a great note to end on. I love this family and how casual and fun they are. Just when I thought I'd come across the CUTEST image from their session, I would find another one. This family hit a home run! (Just check out their Holiday Card!)
